Workshop on SHG-Bank Linkage programme organized in Shopian

SHOPIAN MAY 24:  J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission and UMEED today organized a workshop on SHG-Bank Linkage programme in collaboration with J&K Bank at RSETI Shopian here.

The aim of the workshop was to sensitize the bankers and the community for proper implementation of the programme and offer an opportunity for direct interaction between bankers and SHG members.

Programme Manager SRLM while speaking on the occasion presented an overview of activities, approach and achievements of UMEED, particularly in the area of financial inclusion. He said the mandate of SRLM is to reach out to 66 percent of rural population and link them to sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Cluster Head JK Bank who also spoke on the occasion said the J&K Bank is committed to walking an extra mile in efforts towards financial inclusion and empowerment of women.

Other bankers speaking on the occasion said SHG credit linkage is a social concern and a promising business proposition and assured of all kinds of possible assistance to the SHGs.

The DDC also appraised the Economic Advisor about various issues with regard to the industrial sector and said that lack of proper infrastructure hampers effective utilization of resources. He said these sectors can absorb a significant manpower thereby improve the socio-economic index of the society.

Negi discussed various prospects for promotion of MSMEs with industrialists and entrepreneurs of the district. He said the district with an abundance of natural resources has been chosen as an aspirational district and the purpose of his visit was to explore ways for their maximum utilization while ensuring minimal disturbance to environmental  sustainability.

Representatives of various departments including industrialists and entrepreneurs urged support for the promotion of agriculture and allied sectors in the district. The Economic Advisor had a patient hearing and assured to chalk out ways for their redressal.

Later, DPS Negi visited some industrial estates located at Mazboug, Doubgah and other places of Sopore town to get a first-hand appraisal of concerns of entrepreneurs and others associated with the sector.
