GDC Anantnag reaches semi-finals by defeating GDC Bijbihara

Srinagar: In the ongoing 14th edition of Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket tournament at Islamia College playfield, the 4th Quarterfinal match was played between Government Degree College Anantnag and Government Degree College Bijbihara.

The match was inaugurated by Dr Syed Mehmood Ahmad of the Chemistry Department of the College who honored both teams for their participation in the Quarter-Finals of this Tourney.

The toss was won by Government Degree College Bijbihara and elected to Bat first, scoring 177 runs in the allotted 20 overs with the loss of 8 wickets. For Government Degree College Bijbihara, Yawar Khan scored 87 runs in 52 deliveries. For Government Degree College Anantnag, Sartaj took 3 Wickets.

In reply, chasing the target of 178 runs to win, Government Degree College Anantnag finished the huge target Score in just 17.3 overs with the loss of No wicket and won the match by 10 wickets.

For Government Degree College Anantnag, Sartaj, and Nadeem in reply scored brilliant 82 and 75 runs in just 53 and 56 deliveries respectively. The MAN of the MATCH was adjudged to be SARTAJ for his superb batting and bowling performance. As such Government Degree College Anantnag, booked a place in the semi-finals of this Tournament by defeating Government Degree College Bijbihara.

The 1st Semi-finals of this Tournament will be played on the 16th of March 2023 (i.e. Thursday) between the Institute of Technology Zakura, Srinagar, and Government Degree College Frisal Kulgam.

The Tournament is being organised by the Department of Physical Education, Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar, in the memory of legendary Ex-Principal Prof Mohammad Yousuf of the college.
