Int’l Wushu player Jabeena Akhter no more

Srinagar: Jabeena Akhter, a renowned international athlete and General Secretary of the Wushu Association Baramulla, and the first Kashmiri woman champion in this form of martial art passed away on Friday after a brief illness.

Jabeena Akther was undergoing treatment at JVC Bemina for last many days and breathed her last at the hospital.

Jabeena Akhter, who was also the Secretary of the district Rowing Association in Baramulla, was also known for her philanthropic work.

Jabeena was the grand-niece of Bashir Manzar, Editor-in-chief of the daily Kashmir Images.

Kashmir Images staffers have condoled her demise and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, people from cross sections of society expressed their grief over her demise.
