Srinagar: Police arrested a drug-peddler in Anantnag and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession, police spokesman said Monday.
He said acting on specific information, police arrested a drug-peddler — Muzamil Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat of Arwani Bijbehara, at a checkpoint at Mominabad Anantnag, and recovered 1200 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Another drug-peddler identified as Adil Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh of Kunzer, was arrested near Govt. Degree College Pattan and 144 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations in both these instances and further investigations initiated, police said.
