Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Asiea Naqash, Vice Chairman of J&K Wakf Board Nizamuddin Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rashid, Director Tourism Mahmood A Shah and officers of the concerned departments also accompanied the Minister.

During the visit, the Minister inspected various areas of the shrine and sought details regarding the progress of the work. He also directed experts to see if further improvements can be made to the site plan.

Expressing his disappointment over what he termed as laidback attitude of executing agencies including INTACH, SICOP and JKPCC, the Minister stressed for improved coordination between various agencies for developing the shrine and its surroundings area in a holistic, integrated and eco-friendly manner.

Mufti while expressing his concern over the erection of temporary sheds and additional structures within the site premises said that it not only mars visual appeal of the shrine but also acts as major hindrance in the smooth link between several sectors of the site.

He also called for conducting proper research and employing consultants before erecting mechanized tensile structures at the entrance and courtyard. He said that the construction should not distort the aesthetic value of the structure.

The Minister stressed on conservation of heritage associated with the entire place and plan its sustainable development in such a way that it will broaden the tourist experience.

The Minister said that the plan should focus on needs and concerns of all stakeholders and ultimately be aimed at enriching religious and spiritual tourism experiences.
