Srinagar: Police on Saturday said it has arrested six drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Sharing details, police said drug peddler identified as Sahil Ahmad Malik, son of Mohammad Ashraf Malik of Singhpora Pattan, was arrested at Ghat Palhallan, and 104 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.
In Kulgam, two persons — Shahid Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Furrah, and Zahoor Ahmad Khan, son of Sehrab Ahmad Khan of Delhi, at present Anantnag – were held and 4 kgs of grinded cannabis were recovered from their possession.
Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat of Checki Badwani, Qazigund was arrested near Railway Station Qazigund, and two grams of brown sugar and Rs 3000 in cash were recovered from his possession.
In Budgam, Showkat Ahmed Bhat alias Dada, son of Abdul Salam Bhat, and Sameer Ahmed Bhat alias Bille, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Sholipora Budgam, were arrested near Higher Secondary School Sholipora, and 124 grams of cannabis two mobile phones and Rs 10,000 in cash were recovered from their possession.
During investigation, Sameer alias Bille disclosed that he had concealed some more contraband substance and cash at his residence and subsequently another 116 grams of cannabis, 600 grams of poppy straw and Rs 19,000 in cash were recovered from his residence.
Cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and investigations were initiated in all these cases, police said.
