Srinagar: Day after snowfall and rains, the weather conditions in Kashmir improved on Tuesday as the weatherman has predicted mostly dry weather till February 04.

Officials in the Meteorological department (MeT) said that while the weather will remain dry till Feb 04, there is no possibility of any major snowfall for the next ten days in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu highway has been thrown open for vehicular movement today for both sides.

“The highway was opened for the traffic on both sides after the road clearance work was completed,” officials said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Mohita Sharma said that the intermittent shooting stones and slides are still occurring and advised people to drive cautiously.

“NH through for traffic. Intermittent shooting stones and slides still coming in some places. Travel very cautiously. Road slippery”, SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma tweeted.

Flight operations resumed at Srinagar international airport a day after 68 flights were cancelled, however, several morning flights were delayed due to low visibility.

The train services also resumed partially after remaining suspended for a day.

The Mughal road, which connects Shopian district of Kashmir with Poonch district of Jammu, was remained blocked for traffic due to heavy snowfall, officials said.

Moderate to heavy snowfall on Monday, the final day of ‘Chilla-i-Kalan’ — the harshest winter period in the region — disrupted daily life in Kashmir.

The snowfall continued across Kashmir till late evening. Some areas, especially in the higher reaches, received snow during the night as well.

The minimum temperature improved at some places in the Valley, including Srinagar where it settled at zero degrees.

Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 4.7 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg was at minus 8.4 degrees.
