Srinagar: Activists of a political party on Tuesday took out a protest rally from the United Nations (UN) office at Sonwar to Lieutenant Governor’s office at Raj Bhavan here against the killing of six civilians including two children in Dhangri area of Rajouri district.

Holding placards which read “Stop shedding innocent blood, bring perpetrators to book, and do justice with victim families”, dozens of Awami Awaz Party activists this afternoon assembled outside the UN Military Observers office here demanding an immediate end to innocent killings in Jammu and Kashmir.

The protesting activists amid sloganeering later marched towards the Raj Bhawan which houses the home and office of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to lodge their protest against the Rajouri killings.

The marchers demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the killing of six civilians including two children in Dhangri area of Rajouri.

They appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take serious cognizance of the incident and punish the perpetrators.       `

“The aim of holding this rally is to express solidarity with the families of civilians who lost their precious lives in the terror attacks in Rajouri. We cannot do anything on our own but would like to appeal to the government to identify the perpetrators and punish them,” the protesters told the media.

They said terrorism has consumed thousands of innocent people since 1990 in Jammu and Kashmir and the process of spilling innocent blood is going on unabated.

The protesters after lodging their protest outside Raj Bhawan later dispersed off peacefully.
