BJY likely to enter J&K on Jan 22, Cong seeks cooperation of all, media

Jammu: As the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi is expected to enter Jammu and Kashmir from Lakhanpur on Jan 22, JKPCC has issued an appeal to all especially the media fraternity for their cooperation and support for the proper coverage and dissemination of the information to the general public of this significant historical event post-independence.

This appeal was issued to the media fraternity by the Media committee of the party for better coordination and media management for the Yatra, which is the biggest such event of its kind and nature post-independence, having greater significance, in Jammu and Kashmir, said media in charge &Chairman of the committee Ravinder Sharma, while talking to media persons at PCC Hq here today.

He was flanked by senior Leaders of the media department including Dr Rashid Chaudhary, Kapil Singh, Dr Jhangeev Sirwal, Sahil Sharma, Bilal Rasheed, Rajiv Saraf &Adv Bhavishya Sudan.

Sharma said that the detailed schedule of the Yatra for J&K is being worked out in consultation with the concerned agencies, especially security agencies but the Yatra is expected to reach Lakhanpur on January 22.

Extending full cooperation to the media for the due discharge of their duties, JKPCC has assured to share all relevant Information from time to time, for their use in the better interests of the public.

Sharma said that a large number of senior AICC Leaders and several senior Leaders from different states are likely to join Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K, besides thousands of Leaders and workers from all over the country and Jammu and Kashmir. Several other prominent Leaders and personalities from different shades of opinion and walks of life have already announced or are expected to join here.

Lauding the significant role of media in the most difficult periods in Jammu and Kashmir, Sharma said the media in Jammu and Kashmir has always tried to maintain a balanced approach and objectivity while discharging its duty towards the public.

Earlier chairing a meeting of the media committee & party Spokespersons, Ravinder Sharma stressed upon the party colleagues and workers to render all possible assistance and timely Information, from time to time, to the media community for the performance of their duties. Keeping în view the cold weather & difficult climatic conditions, its the responsibility of all parties to attend to the genuine needs and assistance of the media men, who are the friends of the society.

He said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is likely to culminate in Srinagar, on 30th January, the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, as per the tentative schedule, however, it is yet to be finalized.
