Speaking on the occasion, the Director said the Department is aiming to double the income of farmers and for that, a multi-dimensional approach has been adopted. He said that the projects approved under the holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors would be a game changer in this direction. He asked the officers to gear up and complete the preparation for the implementation of these projects.

Director said that in the coming day’s agriculture sector would experience a new era of development and economic transformation.

He said that the climate change programme being implemented by the department in the only district of Kashmir division makes Budgam district special in a way that the feedback received under this programme helps the department to chalk out a plan for the cultivation and selection of crops in the district and elsewhere.

Director marked the importance of organic and exotic vegetable cultivation in the district. He appreciated the concerned officers for their role in bringing more and more areas under the cultivation of Rabi Crops, especially oilseed.

While talking about the expenditures, Iqbal impressed upon the concerned officers that every penny allocated for the farmers of Kashmir under different centrally sponsored schemes must be judiciously utilized for the welfare of farmers and the development of the farming sector in a time-bound manner. He said the funds earmarked for different components must be fully utilized.

Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam, Syed Tafazul Hussian Madni gave a detailed presentation vis-a-vis the physical and financial progress on the implementation of different centrally sponsored schemes, and flagship programs in the district.

He informed the meeting about different initiatives and interventions by the department.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Agriculture Planning, Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam, District Agriculture Officer (Extension), District Agriculture Officer (Inputs), SDAO Chadoora, SDAO Budgam, SDAO Khansahib, SDAO Beerwah, and others.
