Pakistan mulling over replacing injured Amir

London: Pakistan are wary about Mohammad Amir’s fitness issues after the left-arm pacer went off injured in the only Test against Ireland in Dublin.

The selection committee is not keen to risk the fast-bowler in case he is not fully fit and is consequently pondering over options to replace him if required.

According to Express.pk, Wahab Riaz, Waqas Maqsood and Mir Hamza are amongst the top contenders to replace Mohammad Amir.

Riaz, who recently underwent a nose surgery, has resumed training at the National Academy as he looks to regain full form and fitness.

The left-arm pacer also has a contract with Derbyshire County for the upcoming T20 Blast, where he will play the first ten matches of the season.

Pakistan beat Ireland by five wickets in one-off Test

Maqsood and Hamza, who both have accumulated over 200 wickets in first-class cricket, are also in the reckoning for a place in the side.

Maqsood was also the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Pakistan Cup, where he bagged 14 wickets representing Federal Areas.

The two-Test series between Pakistan and England is scheduled to begin on the May 24.
