Srinagar: Congress today expressed serious concern over the losses caused to Hoteliers and other business communities in Jammu as well as in Kashmir due to the cancellation of the annual Darbar Move.

The Party in a statement issued here said that it stands vindicated, “terming the cancellation of the Darbar move a big blunder committed by the BJP Govt at the Centre” while extending wholehearted support to hoteliers, and lodge owners in both Jammu & Kashmir, who have suffered huge business losses due to the cancellation of annual “Darbar Move”, a practice which the Govt functioned six months in Jammu and six months in  Srinagar.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir has said that Congress Party stands vindicated as the cancellation of the Darbar Move has badly impacted the Hoteliers and Business community in Jammu as well as in Kashmir. “The annual Darbar which used to function for six months in Srinagar and six in Jammu was a big source of economy to people in both the provinces, but the unexpected move of the BJP Govt has snatched the livelihood of people, pushing them towards economic backwardness, which is very unfortunate and highly condemnable on the part of BJP Govt at Centre.”

“Since the BJP Govt assumed Power at Centre, besides dissolving the State Legislature besides downgrading the State into two UTs people particularly the business community, hoteliers, SS Unitholders, fruit growers, Tourism, Trade, daily earners and other sectors have suffered huge business losses due to the policies adopted by it(BJP Govt) towards J&K,” Mir added.

Former JKPCC President said that Congress wholeheartedly supports the demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially hoteliers and the business community reiterating that the annual Darbar Move must be restored to ensure that economy of both the provinces is safeguarded and people live with honor & dignity as they used to live during 75 years of post-independence.

Mir cautioned the BJP Govt about the “rising restlessness” among the business community and people as well and urged the Centre to stop “terrorizing people” by enacting different laws that suit it aiming to rule J&K directly, “the mismanagement of things and misrule on the part of BJP Govt has pushed people to the wall,” Mir said.
