SSP B’gam receives Int’l Woman Wheelchair Basketball player at Sgr Airport

Srinagar: In order to boost the morale and felicitate the captain of National Women Wheelchair Basketball team, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem received Insha Bashir at Srinagar International Airport after attending the award ceremony in New Delhi.

Insha Bashir hails from the Beerwah area of district Budgam and is a female international wheelchair basketball player who represented India in the United States of America in March 2019.

Recently, for the first time ever an International Wheelchair Basketball tournament was held in India & won a Silver Medal. She was conferred with the National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment) on 3rd December 2022 by the President of India.

On the arrival of Insha Bashir, a bouquet was presented by SSP Budgam who appreciated her efforts to be a role model by overcoming her physical specialty, sitting in a wheelchair, and making this wheelchair as wings to chase her dreams.

He also said that she has not only set an example for generations to come but became a role model for everyone. He also said that sports is important part of personality development and Insha’s dedication and achievements will encourage youth, especially girls to excel in every field despite any odds in their lives.

Besides, her various achievements in the field of basketball, she also co-authored a book, titled “101 Unconventional Strategies”.
