Srinagar: Police on Tuesday charge-sheeted four persons including two juveniles in the killing of a police sub-inspector in Pampore area in June this year.

Sharing details, police spokesman in a statement informed that Special Investigating Unit (SIU) Awantipora produced chargesheet in case (FIR No. 71/2022 of Police Station Pampore) in the NIA court Srinagar with regard to the killing of Sub-Inspector Farooq Ahmad of Samboora on June 18, 2022.

It said those charged include Owais Mushtaq Gani, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie, resident of Samboora, and “killed terrorist” of Al-Badr outfit — Majid Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad Wani, resident of Ladhoo Pampore.

Two more accused, both juveniles (name withheld) were charged before the Juvenile Justice Board Pulwama for their involvement in the case, statement said.

It said during the course of investigation, various suspects were called for questioning from time to time. It said on June 24, 2022 one suspect — Owais Mushtaq Ganie — confessed his involvement in the killing. It was on his disclosure, that two juveniles were held for their “active involvement” in the killing of the police officer Farooq Ahmad along with one Majid Nazir, an “active terrorist” of proscribed Al-Badr outfit, the police statement said.

“During the course of investigation it came to forth that all the three accused were active terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit Al-Badar and were in constant touch with the active terrorist Majid Nazir Wani who gave them arms and ammunition to carry out the attacks on soft targets,” the police statement said.

It said Majid Nazir was killed in an encounter at Tujan area of Pulwama on June 21, 2022.

“On the basis of evidence gathered prima-facie offences punishable under relevant sections of law for commission of instant crime has been established. The investigation of the case concluded with chargesheet against four accused persons including two juveniles, one neutralized terrorist and an accused person before the competent court of law,” the statement said.
