LG directs banks, departments to ensure seamless credit flow

Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday chaired a meeting of financial institutions, public sector banks and government departments at the Civil Secretariat.

During the meeting, the LG directed banks and the departments to work in close collaboration for seamless credit flow to address the needs of industries, youth, and farmers for their capacity building and entrepreneurship development, an official press release informed.

It said while sharing his views on the overall assessment of financial inclusion led interventions and reaching out to underbanked sections of rural economy, the LG said that our collective efforts must strive towards supporting sectors working as the power engines of our economy.

Earlier, department-wise issues and analysis of banking sector services were presented before the Lt Governor via a PowerPoint presentation.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said that Jammu and Kashmir has marched forward in the last three years and the results of the government’s efforts are clearly visible.

The LG also observed that after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, “the ecosystem nurturing terrorism has been dismantled.”

The LG made these remarks after inaugurating Amar Jawan Shourya Sthal at Pouni, Reasi, where he also  paid his obeisance to Param Poojya Sant Balak Yogeshwar Das Ji Maharaj, an official press release informed.

“Salute to Veer Naris, our veterans and tributes to all those martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for our country,” the LG said after laying a floral wreath at VirStambh and paying homage to the martyrs.

On the occasion, the LG highlighted the priorities of the administration.

“All round economic growth is of primary importance for us so that every citizen is able to live a life of honour and dignity in the environment of peace. The new dynamism in rural infrastructure will result in far greater prosperity for the people,” he said.

“J&K has marched a great distance forward in the last three years. We have kept the wheels of progress moving to ensure that no section of society is left behind, to ensure that growth benefits marginalised groups and to ensure that prosperity brings a bright future for youth,” he added.

“The results of our efforts to rejuvenate the rural economy are clearly visible. Farmers are receiving better prices, path breaking schemes have been implemented to ensure a social safety net for vulnerable sections & PRI’s have been empowered to push forward rural development,” the LG said.

He said that the accelerated speed of completion of developmental projects, creation of better infrastructure, streamlining of public service delivery mechanism, improved educational & health facilities, and growing industrial sector with massive investment proposals have laid down a solid foundation for the glorious future of Jammu Kashmir.

“During Back to Village -IV programme, efforts were made to identify 15 youth from each panchayat for self employment generation assistance. 27,000 sanction letters have been issued and by the end of December, all the sanction letters will be issued,” the LG observed.

“We have improved public service delivery and ensured higher financial outlays for district development. Health, education, industry, agriculture, handicraft is being given special attention as part of our strategy for inclusive and higher economic growth,” he added.

The LG also observed that the administration has taken various steps to implement e-service delivery of public services but some people are facing difficulties in certain areas.

“We are making efforts to establish a mechanism, in the coming three months wherein if the services are not provided within set timelines, officials will be held responsible,” the LG asserted.

Speaking on the developmental scenario in Reasi district, the LG informed that in the last financial year, 1012 projects were completed in Reasi under the District Capex scheme while the target for this year is to complete more than 1500 projects. Last year, under District Capex, Rs 1125 crore was allocated to Reasi district for development works and this year the amount has been increased to Rs 1183 crore, he further added.

Earlier, the LG honoured the parents of Paramvir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra; Veer Naris and families of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the security of the country.

The LG also inaugurated Yagyashala and felicitated ex-servicemen and organisations for their selfless service towards the welfare of the families of the martyr soldiers. Students participating in various national integration competitions and rallies were also felicitated.

A publication on Param Poojya Sant Shri Balak Yogeshwar Das Ji Maharaj was also released, the press release said.

LG inaugurates 8th National Conference & Exhibition on emerging & innovative trends in engineering technology

“Today’s engineering education must sync with tomorrow’s industry”

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the 8th National Conference & Exhibition on emerging and innovative trends in engineering technology at the Government College of Engineering and Technology, ChakBhalwal.

Addressing the gathering of students and technocrats from across the nation, the Lt Governor said the Industry 4.0 technologies and the fourth industrial revolution is driving economic growth and building skills for future jobs.

Extraordinary engineering innovations will not only change our lives but also shape the future to realise socio-economic goal. Rapid adoption of digitisation in many fields of manufacturing & business will ensure smart factories significantly increase output of production lines, said LG.

The impact of climate change is also visible in new and extraordinary innovations changing our lives. Industry experts, engineers, academic experts and the platforms like NCEEITET have an important role to invent new tools, new products and future path for prodigious change, the Lt Governor observed.

High performance Industry 4.0 tools, engineering enterprise, technological dynamism to nurture an innovation-driven economy and our resolve to ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ will propel India to the category of advance economy, he added.

The Lt Governor emphasized that today’s engineering education must sync with tomorrow’s industry. In the next 25 years of Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal Khand, the speed of technology evolution will help in achieving sustainable economic, social and environmental goals, he added.

Transformation and new invention in energy, material and information technology in the next 5 years will impact engineering sector. Global energy infrastructure will witness re-engineering and solar and wind will become effective and economically productive energy source, the Lt Governor further added.

The Lt Governor said the engineers will play a critical role to meet the basic needs of the human society and also to create solutions to modern world challenges.

He underlined that the Industry 4.0 technologies such as Internet of Things, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data & Analytics, the Cloud, simulations etc will allow industries to make data-driven decision, increase efficiency and accomplish the goal of smart factory.

Every engineering invention has increased the ease of living. Technology has made the society faster, connected and smarter. This is a new normal and result of innovation and imagination, said the Lt Governor.

Industry 4.0 and new inventions will end the system of working in silos in engineering sector. Different fields of academics & engineering will come together in a self-supporting manner and strong relations will be established between Science, Technology & Information, he added.

LG also laid foundation stone of Electrical Engineering Block at GCET ChakBhalwal and inspected the impressive models and exhibits displayed by the Industry Professionals and Students.

The students were motivated to develop curiosity & inquisitiveness and contribute in the making of AatmaNirbhar J&K and AatmaNirbhar Bharat with breakthrough innovations, discoveries and start-ups, and to find solutions to local problems of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lt Governor appreciated Principal GCET, ChakBhalwal for her outstanding work in taking the institution to new heights.
