Srinagar: Body of a man hailing from Kupwara was retrieved, hours after he allegedly jumped into river Jhelum in Sopore area, officials said.

They told GNS that one Ali Mohammad Wani, son of Atta Mohammad purportedly jumped into the river, they said adding a rescue operation was instantly launched at the site by Police, NDRF and locals, following which the body was retrieved.

“A pheran (cloak) mobile phone and some documents of the person were found lying nearby”, they said.

Confirming it a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard. (GNS)
