4 drug-peddlers booked under PSA in Awantipora

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said it has booked four “notorious” drug-peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Awantipora after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

Those booked were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar alias Suriya, son of Mohammad Ashraf Dar of Namlabal Pampore; Umar Noor alias Umgoola, son of Noor Mohammad Bhat; Umar Reyaz Ganaie alias Jan Watab, son of Reyaz Ahmad Ganaie, and Sameer Ah Bhat alias Sameer Kachroo, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, all residents of Wuyan Pampore.

Police in a statement said that they were involved in NDPS cases registered in various police stations of police district Awantipora and were promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

Police said after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority, the arrested drug-peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) and have been lodged in Kot-Balwal Jail, Jammu.
