Para-sports coaching camp for specially-abled children concludes at B’pora

BANDIPORA: Two days para-sports coaching camp for specially-abled children concluded today at S.K Stadium, Bandipora.

The programme was organised by Ali’s Sports Academy Bandipora in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed interacted with the specially-abled children to encourage them to perform better in sports.

He said such a coaching camp has been organised for the first time in the district and appreciated the efforts of Ali’s sports Academy and Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar for identifying and grooming specially-abled children in para-sports.

He said the District administration will fulfill all requirements required for nurturing the talent of specially-abled children in different sports activities. He said Bandipora has performed well in different sports activities and assured full support from District Administration for the development of infrastructure for specially-abled children.

Speaking on the occasion PadmaShree Awardee Faisal Ali Dar said that the coaching camp was organised with the aim to aid children with disabilities to pursue sports while providing self-sustenance.

He said we support athletes right from the grassroots level and bring them up to a level at which they are capable of competing at national and international levels in their sport. He said the coaching for Martial Art, Wheelchair Basketball, wheelchair Handball, and other sports activities were provided during the coaching camp.

Around 15 specially-abled children participated in the two day coaching camp, he added. Faisal said Ali’s Sports Academy will organise more camps across the district to identify more specially abled talented children.
