Nanda reviews progress on Special Summary Revision at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, who is also the Roll Observer electoral rolls for Udhampur district, conducted an exhaustive tour of Udhampur to review progress on disposal of claims and objections received during Special Summary Revision of photo electoral Rolls 2022 in the district.

District Election Officer, Udhampur, Krittika Jyotsna, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ramnagar, Shishir Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral, SDMs and Tehsildars attended the meeting.

While reviewing constituency wise progress on SSR in the district, Commissioner Secretary directed the officers to ensure displaying of check list of claims and objections covered under form 9, 10 and 11 in government offices as well at prominent places for public scrutiny.

Commissioner Secretary stressed upon them to speed up the process of enrolment of PWDs voters and ensure that no voter is left unregistered in the district.

DEO Udhampur highlighted the details of updation done during the Special Summary Revision held in the district from 15 September to 25 October 2022. She laid emphasis on ensuring seeding of Aadhaar numbers with all new eligible voters besides making the revised electoral rolls free form discrepancies and error free.

Later, Commissioner Secretary visited JagritiOldage Home and inspected the functioning of NGO there. He also interacted with the children, oldage person and enquired about the facilities being provided by the authorities.

Commissioner Secretary also motivated the children   to work hard in academic curriculum while keeping equal focus on extracurricular activities. She also impressed upon them to maintain a friendly and joyous environment in the centre and treat other inmates as their extended family.

Commissioner Secretary also distributed wheel chairs, hearing aids, gluco meter, walking stick and warm clothes among the inmates on the occasion.

Deputy District Election Officer, Gurdev Kumar, gave a detailed PowerPoint Presentation on post Special Summary Revision of photo electoral Rolls 2022 in the district.

During the tour, the Commissioner Secretary also inspected One Stop Centre including various Anganwadi Centres and took stock of facilities there.

DSWO, Kanika Gupta, highlighted the overall services being provided by the OSC including emergency assistance and access to various legal and other services like Police assistance, Medical Assistance, Psycho-social counseling, shelter and other help to women and girls under one roof to fight against any kind of violence.

Commissioner Secretary laid emphasis on mass awareness among the people about various central and state sponsored schemes. She impressed upon the field functionaries to work with zeal to achieve the targets fixed and sensitize the targeted group about the importance of Nutrition. She further added that the approach of Poshan Abhiyan is to eradicate malnutrition or undernourishment across the district.
