GANDERBAL: The Department of Tribal Affairs J&K has added more than 300 new courses covering management, soft skills, robotics, data analytics, blockchain, artificial intelligence, aviation, coding, and other various courses, under the Skill Development Training Programme.

This was stated by the team of Officers/Officials of Tribal Research Institute (Tribal Affairs Department J&K) during a one-day Awareness cum Training Programme held at Boys Higher Secondary School Ganderbal.

Speaking in the awareness camp Javaid Ahmad Parray (Coordinator/Nodal Officer) of the Tribal Affairs Department said that the Department has launched various special Scholarship Schemes to benefit the Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of the J&K UT for pursuing different degrees and courses.

He also informed that for the first time the Department has distributed 800 Smart Tabs among the various Tribal students who are pursuing their studies in different Educational Institutions.

Coordinator TRI informed the participants that in a significant move the Department has increased the scholarship in Group A courses from the existing Rs 30,000/annum from 2011-12 to Rs 72,000/annum including Rs 12,000 allowances. The scholarship for Group B courses stagnated at Rs 20,000/annum since 2011-12 has now been enhanced to Rs 53,200/annum including Rs 8,200 as allowances. In Group C courses the scholarship has been enhanced from Rs 18,000 to Rs 41,700 and in Group D courses.

He also stated that the aim of these awareness camps is only that more and more ST students can be educated through these types of programmes/training camps to avail the benefits of the Scholarship Schemes implemented by the Department of Tribal Affairs.

The Convener of the programme, Reyaz Ahmad Shah gave a brief introduction to the Department and the Schemes being implemented by the Department.

The Technical team of TRI (Department of Tribal Affairs J&K) briefed the ZEO’s Principals, Head Masters, and Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) of the National Scholarship Portal about the different aspects, criteria, and guidelines of these Scholarship Schemes and also provided on the spot training among the participants regarding National Scholarship Portal.

The camp was also attended by the Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Abdul Majeed Kohli; Deputy CEO Ganderbal, Nazir Ahmad Wani; Principal Govt. BHSS Ganderbal, Ghulam Hassan Bhat; Warden G&B/ST Hostel Srinagar, Naseem Ahmad Choudhary, and teachers of different Schools.
