Special talent hunt programme concludes at GHSS Chanapora

SRINAGAR: The special talent hunt programme organized by J&K Sports Council in collaboration with GHSS Chanapora concluded here today.

The talent hunt program witnessed a massive participation of girl students from the Chanapora cluster. On day one, more than five hundred students from different schools under the cluster of GHSS Chanapora participated in day-long selection trials and on day two same number of students participated in the selection trials in the sports disciplines of weightlifting, cricket, football, and pencak silat under the watchful eyes of the battery of coaches from Sports Council comprising of Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Mohammad Iqbal, Javeed Ahmad and Abid Nabi.

Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull presided over the concluding ceremony as the chief guest. She had a brief interaction with the staff members of the school before having one-to-one interaction with most of the participants. 

Addressing participants,  Nuzhat Gull informed them about various sports schemes floated by the government from time to time. She also apprised the participants about the sports infrastructure established in Srinagar district and elsewhere and how all sports lovers can avail the facilities.

Appreciating the role of the Sports Council’s active support and patronage, senior faculty member of GHSS Chanapora, Tahir-ul-Hameed said that out students and all visiting athletes were provided with logistic and technical support by professional coaches and trainers of the Sports Council.

While thanking Sports Council, Principal Sameena Wani GHSS Chanapora said that such events shall help in boosting the morale of our students. Such extracurricular platforms help students grow in their confidence as athletes and sportspersons of the future,” she added.

The top-performing students were awarded and commended for their success and competitive spirits besides getting an opportunity to train under the tutelage of game-specific coaches of the Sports Council.

The special initiative for the reach of sports activities to far-off areas of the union territory and now the educational institutions is being appreciated widely by various quarters.
