Srinagar: Students and staff of a private school which has been sealed by the authorities in the old city a few days ago, staged a protest here Monday appealing the government to rollback its order in the larger interest of the students.
Carrying placards in their hands which read “Do not ruin our future, we want education, don’t seal our school” dozens of students and staff members of Naqshband Public School situated at Sheikh Mohalla Maharajgunj area in the old city assembled at Press Enclave here and staged a protest against sealing of the school building.
The protesting students appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and issue an order for immediate ‘deaseling’ of the school where hundreds of students including boys and girls study.
Fozia, a teacher said the school was sealed a few days ago without any information. She said some officials without divulging details sealed the school, thus putting the future of hundreds of students in jeopardy.
“We really don’t know what makes the authorities seal a 60-years-old school without serving any notice to the school administration. We failed to understand the logic behind this hasty move. Now we appeal to the administration to kindly revoke the order so that the future of hundreds of students is saved from getting ruined,” she added.
Tobia Farooq, a class 6th student, appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to have pity on students who she said are suffering for no fault of theirs.
“What was our fault, why was our school sealed without any information? This is sheer injustice with the students and we appeal to the government especially, Prime Minister Modi-ji and LG sir to intervene in the matter so as to save our future from getting ruined,” Tobia said.
