J&K PET Welfare Society celebrates Annual Day

Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Education Trust (PET) Welfare Society organized an impressive function to celebrate its annual day at Dar-ul-Muzaffar Children’s Home Baramulla under theme theme ‘Rights and Responsibilities of Women’.

Justice (Retd) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani presided over the function in which inmate children of both homes at Dar-ul-Salam Sopore (Boys) and Dar-ul-Muzaffar Baramulla presented various speeches on the theme besides exhibited their talent by performing varied cultural programs and won rousing applause from audiences.

A large number of people from a cross-section of society and various eminent personalities attended the program. They highly appreciated the charitable work done by society in shaping the lives of orphans, the poor, and the needy.

While addressing the function, Justice (Retd) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani said, “We talk much about women empowerment and write a lot about it but in practice when it comes to empowering women in our homes we fail bitterly. We have to empower our women by roping them in decision-making in our homes.”

Speakers hailed the efforts of PET society and highlighted the role of women in preset times and the collective responsibility of society. 

J&K People’s Education Trust (PET) was formed by a group of eminent educationists including Prof Abdul Salam Dhar, Prof Mohammad Muzaffar War, Nazir Ahmad Kawoos District and Sessions Abdul Rashid Wani Chartered Accountant and Abdul Khaliq Dar which runs exclusively on the voluntary donations by the affluent people of the society at large.

J&K PET Welfare Society is the Executive body of J& K People’s Education Trust (PET which is purely a charitable, non-government, apolitical, non-profit making, and non-sectarian organization. The Society is registered with the Registrar of Societies and Firms Kashmir and Income Tax Department and Directorate of Integrated Child Protection J&K.

The Society runs two day-and-night Child Care Institutions for orphan and destitute children: Dar-ul-Muzaffar Children’s Home, Baramulla with intake capacity for 50 female children and Dar-ul-Salam Children’s Home Sopore with intake capacity for 50 male Children.

“The Society provides day and night care and every type of facility including boarding and lodging, clothing, medical facilities, books and stationery, private coaching and skill development training like computer education to the boarders of the Homes. Admission of these children is managed in nearby schools and all expenses are borne by the Organization,” said Chairman PET Prof. Ismail while deliberating upon the profile and annual report of the society.
