Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in separate actions across the Baramulla district.

A police party of Police Station Uri at a checkpoint established at NS Bridge arrested a drug-peddler identified as Sajad Ahmad Abassi, son of Ghulam Rasool Abassi of Gowhalta Isham, Uri. During his search, 83 grams of brown sugar were recovered from his possession, police said.

At Ushkara Crossing, a police party of Police Station Baramulla arrested two drug-peddlers identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Beigh alias Seth Jamal, son of Abdul Hamid Beigh, and Irfan Ahmad Rather alias Phoolan Devi, son of Mohammad Sabir Rather, both residents of Fatehpora Khawajabagh Baramulla. Police said 542 banned tablets of Spasmoproxyvon were recovered from their possession.

At Hamrey Pattan, police arrested a drug-peddler identified as Asif Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Salam Bhat of Anderkoot Sumbal, Bandipora. Police recovered 105 grams of ‘Charas’ (cannabis) from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations with regard to these cases and further investigations have been initiated, police said.
