Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported nine fresh cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours which pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,79,229, officials said Wednesday.

They said all nine cases were reported from the Jammu division with Jammu district accounting for six cases and Rajouri, Samba and Kishtwar reporting one case. No other district in the UT reported any fresh cases today.

Officials also informed that four patients were discharged from various hospitals in Kashmir division today after their recuperation.

They said 5,333 doses of Covid vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,46,33,652.

Currently there are 47 active positive cases in J&K – 26 in Jammu division and 21 in Kashmir. So far cumulatively 4,74,397 persons have recovered after contracting the viral infection and 4,785 have died – 2,433 in Kashmir valley and 2,352 in Jammu division.

 Active Covid cases in country decline to 26,292

India logged 2,139 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,18,533, while the active cases dipped to 26,292, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The death toll climbed to 5,28,835 with 13 fatalities which includes four deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.06 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.76 percent, the ministry said.

A decline of 1,082 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.81 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 1.13 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,40,63,406, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 219.09 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The nine new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours include four from Maharashtra and two from Uttar Pradesh.
