Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday registered 28 fresh COVID-19 cases that pushed its infection tally to 4,79,046, officials here said.

The death toll remained unchanged at 4,785.

Of the fresh cases, 20 were reported from the Kashmir valley and eight from the Jammu division, the officials said.

In Kashmir division, Srinagar reported eight cases, Kupwara five, Pulwama four, and Budgam three fresh cases today.

In Jammu division, Jammu district reported three cases, Samba four and Ramban one fresh case while no other district reported any fresh cases today.

Currently there are 173 active COVID-19 cases in the union territory – 125 in Kashmir and 48 in Jammu division. So far, 4,74,088 people have recovered from the viral disease, while 4,785 persons have died – 2,433 in Kashmir valley and 2,352 in Jammu division.

Officials said 17 more Covid patients were discharged from various hospitals including 13 from Kashmir and four from Jammu division in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Officials said 3,891 doses of COVID vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,45,55,724.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 45,281

With 5,383 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,45,58,425, while the active cases declined to 45,281, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 5,28,449 with 20 fatalities which includes eight deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.10 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.71 percent, the ministry said.

A decline of 1,061 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.68 percent while weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.70 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,39,84,695, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry,  217.26 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 12 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours include three from Maharashtra and one each from Chhattisgarh, Goa and Gujarat.
