Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 23 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours which took the cumulative infection tally to 4,78,894, officials informed Friday.

They said 16 fresh cases were reported from Kashmir valley and seven from Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, they informed that in Kashmir division, Budgam reported six cases, Srinagar reported five cases, Baramulla reported two cases, Kupwara, Anantnag and Kulgam reported one case each.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported six cases, and Doda reported one fresh case.

Moreover, 43 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 34 from Kashmir and nine from Jammu, after their recuperation in the last 24 hours.

Officials said 14,045 doses of COVID vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,45,10,926.

Currently there are 249 active positive cases in J&K, including 137 in Kashmir and 112 in Jammu division.

So far cumulatively 4,73,861 infected persons have recovered and 4,784 have died – 2,433 in Kashmir division and 2,351 in Jammu division.

Active Covid cases in country rise to 46,748

India added 6,298 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,45,22,777, while the active cases climbed 46,748, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 5,28,273 with 23 fatalities which includes four deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 2.04 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.71 percent, the ministry said.

An increase of 359 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.89 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 1.70 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,39,47,756, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 216.17 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 19 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours include seven from Maharashtra and three from Delhi.
