Addressing the rally, the DC threw light on the importance of holding activities under the Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan. He said the rally has been jointly organised by the District Administration, Police, ARTO, Transport, and other departments with an aim to disseminate awareness among the youth about the ill effects of drug abuse.

He appealed to the youngsters not to destroy their youth by involving themselves in drugs. He advised them to participate in sports activities of their choice and likeness besides adventure activities including bike racing, cycling, and other activities.

He said a drug-addicted person destroys approximately one lakh rupees on drugs in a year and added that he (the drug addict) can easily get a special bike out of that expenditure if he gets rid of this bad habit.

The DC said that the administration shall act tough against drug users and drug trafficking, adding that every person is morally bound to support the administration to achieve the goal.

Later, the DC along with SSP Kupwara participated in the bike rally from Kupwara to Handwara and invited the attention of the general public towards the slogan “SAY NO TO DRUGS”, envisaged to generate awareness about the ill effects of drugs on society.
