Bandipora: Mother of one of the India’s noted journalists, Muzamil Jaleel passed away early Saturday morning after a brief spell of illness. She was undergoing treatment at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.

She was laid to rest at her ancestral village, Gamroo in Bandipora district. Hundreds of mourners from across Valley participated in her Nimaz-e-Jinazah.

People from all walks of life have condoled the demise and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

“Condolences to my friend @MuzamilJALEEL on the passing away of his mother. A loving mother who raised a lovely family, who toiled and struggled and who had such dutiful children finally calls it a day. May Allah grant her Jannat,” Jammu Kashmir Peoples Conference chairman, Sajad Lone tweeted.

Condoling the demise, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President, Omar Abdullah tweeted: “Inna lilahi wa inna illahi rajiuun. So sorry to hear about the sad passing of @MuzamilJALEEL’s mother. My heartfelt condolences to him & the rest of his family. May Allah grant Muzamil’s mother place in Jannat”.

Meanwhile, JKNC provincial president Kashmir, Nasir Sogami and party’s chief spokesperson, Tanvir Sadiq visited the bereaved family and offered Fatiha for the deceased and prayed for peace to departed soul, a party spokesman said.

Kashmir’s journalist fraternity too has expressed condolences to Jaleel and prayed for the departed soul.

Kashmir Images team while condoling the demise, recalled how this newspaper, as a weekly in 1996, grew up in the lap of this noble lady.

“Kashmir Images, then Weekly, was launched in 1996. We had no place to run it from. Mummy, Muzamil’s mother, had a rented space in Jawahar Nagar and we just occupied one room as our office,” recalled Bashir Manzar, Editor Kashmir Images.

Praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul, Kashmir Images expressed solidarity with Jaleel brothers and sisters.
