Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has expressed profound grief over two separate fire incidents in Sultanpora Kandi, Baramulla, and Bemina where the number of shops and houses were reduced to ashes.

In a press statement released from the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar Dr Farooq expressed sympathies and condolences to the affected shopkeepers, traders and household owners. He also impressed upon the divisional administration to reach out to affected traders with adequate relief and compensation.

Meanwhile, the party’s MP from Baramulla Muhammad Akbar Lone, North Zone President Javed Dar and District President Baramulla Dr Sajad Shafi Uri have demanded the setting up of fire tender stations in different areas of the Baramulla district, especially at Boniyar, Narvaw and Kandi area where the local populace have been often raising voice in favor of this long pending demand.

Meanwhile, Former MLA and JKNC Central Secretary Irfan Shah has expressed anguish over an incident of the conflagration at Nundresh Colony A in Bemina in which a number of houses have been gutted and many others have been partially damaged.

Sharing in the grief of victim families, Shah asked the government to reach out to the affected families with relief and compensation.

He has also impressed upon the government to make a provision of a free monthly ration for the affected households for the next six months.
