KATHUA, MAY 11: Director Agriculture Jammu H. K. Razdan inspected various sale outlets and distribution centres of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides in district Samba and Kathua today.

He was accompanied by the Enforcement Team that lifted random samples from the dealers at Samba, Ghagwal, Dayalachak, Rajbagh and Kathua for quality checks.

During inspection, Director Agriculture directed the dealers to display valid licenses and sale rates prominently as required under Seeds Act 1966, Insecticide Act 1968 and Fertilizer Control Order 1985. He also directed them to maintain proper record of stock/sale of all inputs so that the availability of quality inputs to the farmer at reasonable prices is ensured. He inspected the working of POS devices which are providing online information for availability of stocks and sale of the fertilizers to the farmers.

During a meeting of the Enforcement Staff at Lakhanpur, he directed the concerned to ensure supply of seeds, pesticides and farm machinery which conforms the quality parameters as per norms and to draw the samples of these inputs randomly at all levels of supply chain for quality checks and ensure that no expired lots of seeds/pesticides are sold to the farmers.

He also gave instructions to ensure sampling of all the inputs including technical grade materials, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and organic manures to prevent and check the entry of any spurious materials.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Director Law Enforcement, S Baljeet Singh, Agriculture Information Officer, J. C. Raina, Enforcement Inspectors, Surinder Mishra, Vijay Abrol, Sandeep Pathania and other officials of the Department.
