Srinagar: The Kashmir chapter of Britain -based charity organization ‘Who is Hussain’ is organizing a blood donation camp across the three districts of Kashmir Valley as part of the organization’s worldwide blood donation drive.

The blood donation camps will be set up at Imambada Zadibal and Imam Bargah Ayatullah Yousuf Bemina here in Srinagar besides Markazi Imam Bargah Budgam and Imam Bargah Gamdoo in Bandipora district on August 27.

The non-profit organization has its chapters in 109 cities worldwide including Srinagar where around 25 volunteers have been tirelessly working in order to aware people about Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Hussain ibn Ali.

The donation camp is part of the global campaign ‘Be a global blood hero’ being held across several countries. The aim of the campaign is to set a world record-breaking challenge of collecting 50,000 units of blood in one day.

“We are hopeful that the blood donation drive will evoke an overwhelming response. We have set up camps in three different districts of Kashmir for this purpose,” Abrar Ali, one of the organizers said.

Each camp, he said, will have nearly a dozen beds and will be looked after by a group of five well-experienced paramedics besides the volunteers of the global NGO.

“We have also made arrangements for separate beds for female donors. We don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable while joining us in this noble cause,” he said.

Pertinently, WhoIsHussain has taken a series of initiatives over the last few years in Kashmir for the overall development of society. The prominent NGO held sanitation drives, and awareness campaigns, besides relief work during natural calamities.

WhoIsHussain also carried out relief work after the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in the Valley.

‘The Wall of Kindness’ initiative that took social media by storm in the winter of 2018, was also the brainchild of WhoIsHussain.

According to Abrar, the Kashmir chapter of WhoIsHussain expects to collect nearly 2500 units of blood during the one-day donation drive, much beyond the total capacity of hospitals.

He also said that Salute 72, a local blood donation network, is collaborating with WhoIsHussain in the drive, considered to be one of the largest blood donation drives held in the Valley.
