Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 622 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,73,219, officials said Saturday.

They said 545 cases were reported from Kashmir valley and 77 from the Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, they informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar district reported 212 cases, Baramulla reported 110 cases, Kupwara and Budgam 62 cases each, Kulgam reported 27 cases, Anantnag reported 24 cases, Pulwama and Bandipora reported 16 cases each, Ganderbal reported 14 cases, while Shopian reported two fresh cases today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 42 cases, Kishtwar reported 13 cases, Rajouri and Ramban reported five cases each, Udhampur and Kathua three cases each, Doda and Poonch two cases each while Samba and Reasi each reported one case today.

Officials also said that during the last 24 hours, 777 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation. This includes 592 persons from Kashmir and185 from Jammu division.

Currently there are 4,579 active positive cases of the viral disease in J&K – 3,840 in Kashmir valley and 739 in Jammu division.

So far cumulatively 4,777 persons have died – 2,431 in Kashmir and 2,346 in Jammu division.

India reports nearly 16,000 new Covid ases, 68 deaths

India reported nearly 16,000 new Covid cases and 68 fatalities, including 24 reconciled by Kerala, according to the Union Health Ministry latest data.

The data updated at 8 am Saturday also showed active cases came down by 4,271 in a span of 24 hours to 1,19,264, constituting 0.27 percent of the total infections.

The 15,815 new infections and 68 deaths pushed the overall Covid figures to 4,42,39,372 cases and 5,26,996 deaths, according to the data.

The country’s COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.54 percent, the health ministry said. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.36 percent, while the weekly rate was 4.79 percent. The case fatality rate stands at 1.19 percent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has risen to 4,35,93,112, according to the ministry.

It also said 207.71 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

The 44 newly reported fatalities include 10 from Delhi; five each from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab; three each from Assam, Haryana and West Bengal; two each from Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Manipur; and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, and Rajasthan.
