Srinagar: While hailing the initiatives to macadamize roads in various parts of the Valley, Apni Party’s Senior Vice President and former Cabinet Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that the administration must also ensure the annual reappear of the roads that are in deplorable condition and cause hardships to the commuters.

According to a statement issued here, Mir said, “It is pleasant to see that the concerned departments have been getting some important roads and link roads macadamized under various schemes. However, it is observed that the annual macadamization of the dilapidated roads has not been done so far.”

He added, “people in various parts of the Valley are complaining of the deplorable condition of the roads in their areas, causing troubles to the masses. The poor condition of roads in many areas of the Valley takes a toll on commuters as it increases their travel time and causes water-logging and frequent traffic jams. People are also worried that if the repair work is not done in these months of summer, the condition of the toads would be deplorable further.”

Ghulam Hassan Mir has urged the authorities of the concerned departments to look into the matter to ensure timely repair of the deplorable roads in all the urban and rural areas.
