2 notorious drug peddlers booked under PIT NDPS Act in B’gam: Police

Srinagar: Two notorious drug peddlers have been detained under PIT NDPS Act in Budgam.

“Earlier, two drug habitual offenders and notorious drug peddlers namely Javaid Ahmed Beigh son of Abdul Rasheed Beigh resident of Nasrullapora Budgam and Mukhtar Ahmed Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani resident of Bathar Budgam were arrested for their involvement in drug peddling,” said a police spokesperson.

“Both the drug peddlers have been detained under PIT NDPS Act through orders issued by the competent authority and have been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu,” the spokesperson said.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he said.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson said, Police in Handwara arrested a bootlegger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.

“A police party of Police Station Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Yahama Crossing intercepted a person identified as Gh Mohd Lone son of Jabbar Lone resident of Yahama. During checking, 20 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” he said.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 49/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qalamabad and investigation has been initiated,” he added.
