Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday registered 383 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the cumulative infection tally in the Union territory to 4,60,558, officials said here.

While 237 fresh cases were reported from the Kashmir valley, 146 cases were reported from Jammu division, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, officials informed that Srinagar district reported 105 cases, Jammu reported 98 cases, Baramulla reported 60 cases, Anantnag reported 25 cases,  Rajouri reported 19 cases, Udhampur reported 17 cases, Pulwama reported 13 cases, Budgam reported 10 cases, Kupwara reported nine cases, Kulgam reported seven cases, Kathua and Bandipora reported six cases each, Kishtwar reported three cases, Samba and Shopian reported two cases each and Doda reported one case.

The death toll due to the virus stood at 4,763 as no fresh fatality was reported, the officials said. So far 2,426 persons have succumbed to the viral infection in Kashmir and 2,337 persons in Jammu division.

Currently there are 3,379 active cases of the disease in the Union territory — 1,715 in Jammu division and 1,664 in Kashmir. The number of recoveries has reached 4,52,416, they said, adding this also includes 243 people — including 157 from Jammu division and 86 from Kashmir division — who were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation in the last 24 hours.

COVID-19 positivity rate above 7% after 168 days, says govt

With 16,866 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,39,05,621, while the daily positivity rate crossed 7 percent again after a gap of 168 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The active cases have declined to 1,50,877, while the death toll has climbed to  5,26,074  with 41 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.34 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.46 percent, the health ministry said.

A decrease of 1,323 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 7.03 percent. The weekly positivity rate was 4.49 percent, according to the health ministry.

Totally, 87.27 crore tests have been carried out with 2,39,751 tests being conducted in a span of 24 hours.

The number of recoveries surged to 4,32,28,670, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 percent.

According to the ministry, 202.17 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 41 new fatalities include 13 from Kerala, six each from Maharashtra and West Bengal, four from Punjab, two each from Delhi and Sikkim and one each from Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh.
