Indian Army organizes Capt Saurabh Kalia T-20 Cricket Tournament

Srinagar: The Indian Army in association with community members of Kaksar as a tribute to Late Capt Saurabh Kalia organized Capt Saurabh Kalia T-20 Cricket Tournament.

“The tournament was organised at Capt Saurabh Kalia Cricket Stadium, Kaksar by Kargil Sentinels with an aim to promote games and sports in the Ladakh Region. A total of 34 teams participated in the competition with utmost enthusiasm. Matches were played on league cum knock out basis from May 29 to July 06, 2022,” said PRO (Defence) Srinagar.

“The electrifying and hard fought final played between United Kirkit, Kargil and Skarchan Lato, Kargil, held on 16 July 2022, was witnessed by the Chief Guest Mr Feroz Ahmed Khan, CEC, Kargil and Brigadier Yudhvir Singh Sekhon, Commander Kargil Sentinels, amongst other military and civil officials,” the PRO said.

“The final match was won by United Kirkit, Kargil by two wickets and Md Ali of Skarchan Lato team was adjudged as Man of the Series. Both the teams were felicitated on the occasion. The Indian Army remains at the forefront in encouraging the culture of fitness and sports, enabling youth to participate in such activities,” he said.
