Tangmarg: A daily wager posted in the Power Development Department fell from a tree on Thursday and was seriously injured.

The daily wager identified Abdul Qayoom Dar son of Abdul Majeed Dar, a resident of Mahayan fell down while cutting a branch of a tree adjacent to Tangmarg Munsif Court.

Although he was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital, the doctors on duty referred him to JVC Hospital where the doctors recommended an operation as he had sustained severe back injuries.

Public circles have demanded that only permanent employees be allowed to climb poles and trees to rectify faults in the transmission lines, “as in most accidents, daily wagers are either injured or lose their lives. There is no support from the department nor are government jobs easily provided to the underprivileged.”
