Central Prabhari officer for Aspirational District Bla interacts with fruit growers

BARAMULLA: On the second day of his visit, Principal Commissioner, Delhi Development Authority, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Rajeev Kumar Tiwari, who is also the Central Prabhari officer for Aspirational District Baramulla, visited Fruit Mandi Sopore and interacted with various fruit growers and other stakeholders who apprised him about their issues and demands.

During the interaction, President, Fruit Growers Association Sopore apprised the Principal Commissioner about various issues faced by the fruit growers.

The association sought the personal intervention of Principal Commissioner regarding smooth passage of fruit trucks which are being stopped at various locations thereby causing damage to the fruits.

The association also demanded establishment of cold storage, crop insurance among other demands of vital significance with the Principal Commissioner.

While reiterating that farmers’ welfare is among the top priority of the present government, the Principal Commissioner said that every possible initiative is being taken to protect the interests of farmers.

He assured that all the genuine demands would be taken for their timely redressal, adding that a proper mechanism would be formulated wherein effective grading and packaging system of fruits shall be introduced in order to control erratic price fluctuation of horticultural produce.

The Principal Commissioner also said that all other demands put forth by the association will be discussed with the higher-ups for their timely redressal.
