Notorious car lifter booked under PSA in Budgam: Police

Srinagar: Police in Budgam have booked a notorious and habitual car thief under Public Safety Act for his continuous involvement in vehicle theft cases. 

“The booked person is the kingpin of a vehicle-lifting gangs operating in various districts of J&K especially in Budgam,” said a police spokesperson.

“There was huge resentment among the public for his involvement in repeated criminal activities of car lifting/theft incidents as such there was every likelihood of turning of said issue of car lifting into law & order problems,” the spokesperson said.

“The said habitual thief who was booked under PSA has been identified as Riyaz Ahmed Rather @Riyaz Gani son of Abdul Gani Rather resident of Nasrullahpora Budgam,” he said.
