DC Srinagar oversees arrangements for Urs of Hazrat Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) at Khanqah-i-Moula

SRINAGAR: In connection with the forthcoming annual Urs of Hazrat Shahi Hamdan(RA), Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday visited the Khanqah-i-Moula, Ziyarat of Hazrat Amir-e-Kabir Shah-e-Hamadan (RA) in Shahr-e-Khaas to take stock of the arrangements being made to facilitate devotees during Urs days.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi, Joint Commissioner SMC, Syed Abul Qasim, Executive Engineer, PHE, Ishfaq Ahmad, Tehsildar South, Moean Azar Kakroo and other senior Officers of PDD, R&B, FCS&CA, fire & Emergency Services and other Departments accompanied the DC during the visit.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner sought details of arrangements from different line Departments and planned for the annual Urs at the Shrine.

The DC instructed all the concerned Departments to ensure adequate arrangements for smooth observance of the Urs.

Regarding power supply, the DC directed the officers of PDD to ensure availability of 24*7 uninterrupted power supply at the Shine. Similarly, PHE authorities were also directed to ensure continued drinking water supply besides arrangements for a water tanker facility at the Shrine during Urs days.

The DC also asked the SMC authorities to deploy sufficient manpower at the Shrine to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the Shrine. Similarly, directions were passed for making adequate arrangements for transport and parking facilities.

The DC also stressed the concerned officials to make all street lights functional and make proper arrangements for Fire extinguishers at the venue.

During the visit, the DC also held a meeting with the members of the Shrine Management and enquired about the requirements for the annual auspicious occasion and passed on the spot directions to concerned Departments.

Earlier, the DC along with other senior officers paid obeisance at the revered Shrine and prayed for the peace, prosperity and wellbeing of the people.

Pertinent to mention that the annual Urs celebrations of the revered saint is held every year from 1st to 6th Zil-Hijjah of the Islamic Calendar, which falls on coming Wednesday July 06, 2022.

During the main function, thousands of devotees from across Kashmir are expected to offer congregational prayers on 6 Zil-Hijjah.
