Srinagar: National Apple Farmers Workshop was held on June 22, 23 2022, at Hotel New Shangri-la, Srinagar organized by All India Kisan Sabha and P Sundarayya Memorial Trust, and a press conference was held on June 23 2022 at the Workshop venue.
The workshop was part of the effort to build the Kisan movement on concrete crop/issue-specific demands. Apple is the important crop that contributes 8% of the SGDP of Jammu and Kashmir as per the economic review of 2017-18 but farmers are facing severe distress due to a lack of remunerative prices.
Hannan Mollah Ex-MP, AIKS General Secretary, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigamy former MLA, P Krishnaprasad Ex MLA and Finance Secretary AIKS among others addressed the press conference.
On the occasion, the Workshop adopted a resolution and presented a demands charter.
