Srinagar: Three more terrorists were including an arrested one were killed in three separate encounters with security forces in Kashmir on Monday, taking the number of militants killed in the past 24 hours to seven, police said.

As already reported, four terrorists were killed in ongoing encounters in Kupwara and Kulgam on Sunday.

Two more terrorists including the one who was arrested and on whose information the operation was launched, were killed in Kupwara district, police said.

“KupwaraEncounterUpdate: 02 more #terrorists including #terrorist Showkat got #neutralised (total 04). #Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” the police spokesperson tweeted.

The slain terrorists were affiliated with LeT outfit and were identified as Bambar Khan, Al-Bakash, Aftab Bhai and a local Showket Ahmad Sheikh resident of Sedow Shopian on whose disclosure the said operation was conducted, police said.

In another encounter that broke out at Chatpora area of Pulwama district in which one terrorist was killed, police said.

“During exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed who has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Khan son of Gh Mohi-ud-din Khan resident of Maidan Chogal Handwara,” police said.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar congratulated the joint teams for carrying out Anti-terrorist operations in professional manner without any collateral damage. He also termed the elimination of seven terrorists in less than 24 hrs as a big success taking the toll of total killed terrorists to 114 including 32 foreigners so far in this year.
