Shri Amarnath ji Yatra: Div Com Jammu inspects ongoing works at Yatri Niwas

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar on Friday visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar to take stock of arrangements being made for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by DIG, Vivek Gupta;  Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa; Director Tourism, Vivekanand Rai; Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; besides senior officers of Health, CRPF, JMC, Jal Shakti, PWD, JPDCL, and other senior officers.

The Div Com took a round of the complex and inspected the ongoing works.

The officers of the Tourism Department apprised the Div Com about the progress on different works being executed inside the complex for providing better facilities to the pilgrims during the Yatra. 

It was informed that the face-lifting and renovation work, construction of a new toilet complex, and Additional accommodation building was in full swing.

The Div Com instructed the concerned engineers to expedite the pace of work and ensure the completion of all works by June 10.

Later, the Div Com held a detailed meeting with the concerned officers and reviewed overall arrangements.

The Div Com emphasized upon making provision of all basic amenities for the comfortable stay of pilgrims.

Directions were issued for completing all the works well in advance by working in close coordination.

The Div Com instructed JMC for beautification of the city including illumination of 4th Tawi Bridge for the Yatra.

The tourism department was asked to install hoardings, and banners on prominent locations right from Lakhanpur to en-route showcasing the tourist destinations of the Jammu region.

The provision for transportation of Yatris, emergency/disaster management, setting up of Langars, setting up of communication centres, medical facilities, deployment of the medical team at Yatri Niwas, sanitation, installation of temporary toilets and mobile toilet vans in Bhagwati Nagar area, uninterrupted supply of electricity, adequate water supply, traffic arrangements were also discussed in detail.

For foolproof security, the Div Com passed directions to the police to make adequate deployment and install additional CCTV cameras to keep watch on suspicious movement.

He also directed for further augmentation of the amenities by making provision of Tourist Information Centre, Tourist Cafeteria, Resting Shelter, Parking, Gender-Based Toilets, Queue Complex etc.

The PWD was asked to start blacktopping Bhagwati Nagar to Yatri Niwas road and make barricade arrangements.

JPDCL was instructed to ensure the installation of the transformer, DG set well on time to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Yatra days.

The Divisional Commissioner asked the Department concerned to further gear up men and machinery for timely completion of pending works.

Earlier, in a meeting of concerned officers, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the supply of essential services in districts of the Division especially water, and power supply during the ongoing summer season.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers of JPDCL, JPTCL, Jal Shakti, Irrigation and Flood Control, PWD and others concerned.

The Chief Engineers apprised about the supply situation in the districts. The Chief Engineers apprised the Div Com about the requirement, availability, and shortage of water, and power during the summer season. It was informed that supply position is normal in all the districts.

The Div Com directed the Chief Engineers to ensure adequate water power supply in the districts.

He also instructed JPDCL to make adequate buffer stock of transformers available and also ensure buffer stock in districts.

The Div com also passed directions to PWD engineers to expedite the pace of works on roads and Megaprojects executed in the districts. 

The Div Com also reviewed the status of desilting of irrigation canals and was informed that the work of the main canal and distributaries has been completed while work on minor distributaries (kools) was in progress.

The Div Com asked the Chief Engineer to ensure early completion of pending works if any for providing better Irrigation facilities to the farmers.
