Jammu: Even as the J&K government made an effort to assure employees engaged under Nehru Youth Corps (NYC) and various Rehbar schemes of not disengaging them, a sense of confusion and anger still persists among such workers.

The employees engaged under schemes like Rehbar-e-Janglat (ReJ), Rehbar-e-Zirat (ReZ), Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) and NYC are continuously expressing their resentment across Union Territory including Jammu where they went on protesting in front of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Headquarter at Trikuta Nagar for the fourth consecutive day today.

The enraged employees were not in a mood to give in despite the government clarifying not to disengage them.

These employees held a protest demonstration under the banner of ReK Teachers Forum. In sweltering heat, the protesting workers sat on a dharna in support of their demand. The Forum has demanded that necessary steps should be taken to regularize them as well as withdrawing the order to fill the posts afresh.

Speaking to Kashmir Images, a spokesperson of Rehbar-e-Janglat (ReJ), Jagjit Singh said that the government has failed to make its intentions clear with regard to the disengagement order issued on May 19.

“Government is still not in a denial mode. Coming out with a clarification on social media sites like twitter is not going to clear the doubts of the employees. Government must come up with a formal notification in this regard, till then we will continue our struggle. We will go on protesting. It is our democratic right,” said Singh.

“The ReJ employees engaged way back in 2017 were to be regularization. But the government’s order has made it almost impossible for more than 500 highly qualified employees to get regularized,” he added.

He said that they met the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu twice but verbal assurances will not address the issue as the protesting employees are demanding a written guarantee from the government.
