Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir logged eight fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours, officials said Sunday.

Of the fresh cases, they said six were reported from Jammu division and two from Kashmir Valley, even as five more patients were discharged from hospitals after their recuperation in the last 24 hours – this includes three patients from Jammu division and two from Kashmir.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 1,823 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,29,85,706.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,54,199 positive cases of the viral infection recorded in J&K so far, currently there are 58 active positive cases in the UT, including 41 in Jammu division and 16 in Kashmir, while cumulatively 4,49,389 persons have recovered and 4,752 have died – 2,424 in Kashmir and 2,328 in Jammu division.

Active COVID-19 cases in country dip to 14,955

India logged 2,226 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,36,371, while the active cases dipped to 14,955, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,24,413 with 65 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.03 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 percent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 41 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.50 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.50 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,97,003 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 192.28 crore.

The 65 new fatalities include 63 from Kerala and one each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The ministry stressed that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
