Uri: A woman ended her life by jumping into river Jhelum after fire destroyed her residential house in Uri village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.
Witness said that fire broke out in residential house of Shabir Ahmad Bhat, son of Bilal Ahmad Bhat at Ijhara Pehlipora, Boniyar, which also destroyed another residential structure and a cowshed.
They said the woman, Tanzeema Begum, daughter-in-law of house-owner, jumped into river Jehlum after she saw her house go up in flames.
Fire and Emergency Services sleuths together with the locals later controlled the blaze, while a team of police and SDRF later in the evening fished out the body of woman from the river near Challan Boniyar reservoir.
