Srinagar: Police have arrested a maid and an agent of a maid agency “Karishma Maid Bureau” involved in a fraud and recovered an amount of Rs. 74000 from their possession, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said that a written complaint was received by Police Station Lalbazar today wherein the complainant namely Muzamil Hayat son of Faiz-ur-Rehman resident of Qadeem Masjid lane, Lalbazar stated that they have hired a maid through a maid agency “Karishma Maid Bureau” via online platform.

He further stated that, on 9th May 2022, at around 03:30 PM, the agency sent the maid namely Archana Chauhan along with an agent namely Rajini Jha at their home and an amount of Rs. 74,000 as advance for one year was given to the agent, said the spokesman.

The complainant told police that both the maid and the agent fled from their house in the wee hours along with the money.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 26/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was set into motion. Both the maid and agent were arrested from Qazigund area within hours along with the cash,” said the spokesman.

The spokesman said that general public is requested to contact the police for ascertaining authenticity of various maid consultancies running online or offline.
