Earlier, the family members of the victim had said that she was beaten by her husband and in-laws on Eid day and suffered critical injuries and was battling for her life in ICU at SKIMS Soura.

“Soon after the incident, she was taken to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Kreeri from where she was shifted to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment,” they said.

Narrating the incident, the brother of the victim had said that her sister was being harassed continuously by her husband and in-laws ever since their marriage. “They tried to kill her for dowry,” he had said and demanded immediate arrest of the accused and strong punishment to them.

The incident had also sparked massive protest, demanding strict action against the accused.

Meanwhile, a police official said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law.

The official said that the victim’s husband has been arrested and further investigation into the matter is going on.

Meanwhile, former minister and Peoples Conference general secretary, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari has expressed grief over the demise of the woman.

In a tweet, Ansari urged the Baramulla Administration to speed up the justice process.
