Shouting pro freedom slogans, dozens of JKLF activists following the call of Hurriyat leadership took out a protest march from Maisuma to Budshah Chowk here after Friday congregational prayers demanding end to civilian killings.

Protesters sought immediate intervention of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on what they termed unabated civilian killings.

Talking to reporters JKLF leader, Showkat Ahmad Bakshi who lead the protest accused the state government of backing army and police to slaughter innocent population in Kashmir valley.

“These so-called mainstream leaders who act as puppets for New Delhi are signatories to the atrocities meted out to the people of Kashmir. It is a well thought out conspiracy under which innocent youth are being killed on routine basis,” Bakshi added.

He said the aim of holding protest was to highlight the sufferings of people of Kashmir valley and silence maintained by international community with regards to long pending issue.

Bakshi while criticizing Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta’s statement about Kathua rape and murder alleged that such statements are aimed at hushing up the ghastly incident.

“On one hand our innocent youth are being killed while on the other hand the Deputy Chief Minister shamelessly describes Kathua incident as a minor one,” Bakshi said.
